Old Town Tortilla Factory
Just like golf courses, there are scores of dining choices in Greater Phoenix. Please allow me to narrow your field and introduce you to Old Town Tortilla Factory.
Located in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, the Old Town Tortilla Factory (a family owned/operated establishment) captures the timeless charm and distinct atmosphere that exemplifi es the essence of Arizona and the desert southwest.
When you arrive, you enter an impressive 1,200 square foot flagstone patio (If Golf Digest ranked patio’s, this would surely get 5-Stars) that is surrounded by lush, green vegetation and shaded by mature trees. Plenty of propane heaters warm the patio during the winter, while a state of art misting system cools to perfection during the hotter months.
Margaritas Tequilarilla, a separate gazebo bar featuring over 80 premium tequilas and a complete selection of Mexican beers and liquors, is a preferred venue for the in the know crowd. Here and throughout the Factory, only premium margaritas are the signature drink.
Two facts of interest:
- Tortilla Factory’s award-winning margaritas are 16 ounces and comprised of fresh citrus mix and top-shelf tequila
- The Tortilla Factory is El Tesoro’s largest independent location account in the United States.
In addition to the wonderful ambience and mixology, the food is well above par at the Tortilla Factory.
The cuisine draws from Native American and Sonoran influences, combining the simplistic nature of their ingredients with modern cooking techniques. To protect the integrity of the recipes, only the freshest ingredients are used.
Favorite entrees include the Red Chile Pork Chop, Pollo Margarita, Grilled Salmon, Achiote (a natural food dye from a tropical shrub) Ribs and the tasty new Red and Green Enchilada plates. Complimentary homemade tortillas, with different flavors nightly, distinguish the Tortilla Factory from the competitors. No chips and salsa are served here. It’s fun to visit the foyer and watch the treats being made, by hand in the old world way. After that, hurry back to your table and enjoy them while they are steaming hot.
The staff, many of whom have worked at the Tortilla Factory for years, love to make sure you have the Ultimate Southwestern Dining Experience!
