We-Ko-Pa Golf ClubBoth of We-Ko-Pa Golf Club’s courses were recently honored by Golfweek Magazine in their 2007 “Top 100 Best Resort Golf Courses” special issue.  We-Ko-Pa’s one-year-old Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw-designed Saguaro course ranked #20 in the United States, while the six-year-old Scott Miller-designed Cholla course ranked #31 in the annual publication.

Both Saguaro and Cholla were ranked highest among all Arizona golf courses on the list.  Overall, six Arizona golf courses made the “Top 100 Best Resort Golf Courses” list, including:

                        #20      We-Ko-Pa (Saguaro)

                        #31      We-Ko-Pa (Cholla)

                        #38      Ventana Canyon (Mountain)

                        #74      Wigwam Golf Resort (Gold)

                        #84      Boulders Resort (South)

                        #85      Ventana Canyon (Canyon)

The top five Resort Golf Courses across the nation were Pacific Dunes, Pebble Beach, Pinehurst #2, Whistling Straits (Straits Course) and Bandon Dunes.

“We are honored to have We-Ko-Pa listed among the best golf courses in the United States; our new course (Saguaro) has proven to be a great addition.  I want to thank Golfweek for considering Fort McDowell as a premier resort golf destination,” said Director of Golf and General Manager Jeff Lessig.

We-Ko-Pa Golf Club is a daily fee golf facility that consists of the original 18 holes, the Cholla course, designed by Scott Miller and a second 18 holes, the Saguaro course, designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw.  In addition to the two 18-hole courses, there is a large practice facility, a full-service clubhouse and a smaller clubhouse serving the new Saguaro Course.  We-Ko-Pa is owned by the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation and is operated by EF Golf and OB Sports Golf Management.
