During this past week (March 12-18) the ladies tee'd it up at the
2012 RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup event at
Wildfire Golf Club at the JW
Marriott Desert Ridge Resort in Phoenix. After several beautiful days of
typical Arizona weather, the final round suffered through three rain
delays, wind gusts, hail and overall nasty weather conditions. Congratulations
to Yani Tseng, who outlasted the weather and the rest of
the field to finish 18-under-par for her 14th career LPGA
Tour victory!
I was hosted overnight by Talking Stick Resort, a relatively new
property located on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian community. It
boasts a 240,000-square-foot casino and award-winning restaurants like the
Orange Sky on the 15th
floor, where you can take in the stunning Arizona sunsets. If gaming is your
idea of a good time, check out Talking Stick Resort, www.talkingstickresort.com.
Golf at Troon North.
In a word: breathtaking. Everything you've read or heard about this course is
absolutely true, as it sets the standard by which all other area courses are
measured. The primary reason I wanted to visit Troon North was to meet with Brett Brooks and
find out about Summer Family Golf. Visit www.troonnorthgolf.com
to learn more about the upcoming 2012 sessions for the entire family. The
real lesson here is not to be intimidated by Troon North's challenge and reputation.
They offer a thoroughly enjoyable golf experience for everyone!

New club-fitting facility helps golfers discover the best
clubs for their swing for $225
Raven Golf Club - Phoenix and OB Sports recently announced the opening of The Perfect Fit, a new golf-club-fitting facility headed by long-time Arizona PGA Professional, Al Murdock. The outdoor facility allows Murdock to assess a golfer’s ball flight while also considering data collected by Foresight GC2 Smart Camera System to fit them with the best equipment for their individual swing. The fitting service which costs just $225, includes putter through driver, and also include ball fitting if so desired.
“Every golf swing is different,” said Murdock. “The technology available today allows us to merge the art of club fitting that I’ve practiced over the years with the rapidly emerging science of club fitting to find the best equipment match for each swing. And it’s not just for the expert; in fact, high handicappers benefit from this service just as much as low handicappers, maybe even more.”

By Mike Malaska – Nicklaus Academies’
World-Wide Director of Instruction
We can all agree that in this great game, perfection is simply unattainable. There are a million and one variables involved in this sport. However, the pursuit of perfection in your practice habits may very well make you more consistent, and consistency is the second most frequent request we hear from my students (right behind “I want to hit it farther!”). In 1998 Jack Nicklaus said “You don’t have to hit the ball long and perfect. You have to hit the ball long enough and in play.” So, let’s look at some ways to help make your practice time more beneficial so your ball is consistently long enough and on the short grass. Below are a few very important tips to help you maximize your return on investment.
