The Best in the West - Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia

Print E-mail

Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia While golf courses have seemingly arisen like the mythological Phoenix throughout the Arizona desert giving golfers plenty of options to choose from, it’s often difficult to differentiate one desert layout from the next.

Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia isn’t simply another Arizona golf course; it’s a completely unique golf experience in the Grand Canyon State. With tall and colorful indigenous grasses dotting the landscape, breathtaking panoramic vistas showcasing the area’s dramatic setting and rolling terrain, it’s no wonder Vistancia has had little trouble standing out among the crowd.

Vistancia is located at the foothills of Phoenix’s West Valley on the outskirts of the epicenters of Arizona’s population boom like Scottsdale, where a round of golf often comes with a hefty price tag. Vistancia’s prices are always reasonable, and there is a perfect rate and time for everyone all year long.

“I think our rates are probably the most reasonable rates of anywhere in the valley,” said Greg Ellis, general manager at Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia. “And as always, you have the opportunity to check out internet specials on our Web site.”

Arizona-based architect Gary Panks and his team crafted this championship design that draws upon distinctive land features to create a more rustic, Midwestern feel that isn’t all rock and desert. Vistancia has generous but demanding landing areas and tests not only a player’s physical ability but also their mental capacity and imagination.

The golf course, which opened for play in February 2004, features five sets of tee boxes ranging from 5,573 yards to 7,259 yards, allowing players of every skill level to enjoy an exceptional test of golf. One noted local publication agreed with that assessment.

“Not only is (Vistancia Golf Club) pleasing to the eye, but to the touch of golfers who will find a layout that offers playability but is capable of a tournament-tough setup,” wrote the Arizona Republic.

In fact, in 2007 the course hosted one of the state’s premier tournaments, the Shea Homes Arizona Senior Open as well as multiple events on the Gateway Tour.

With more than 70 well-defined and transitional bunkers that gently feed into the golf course’s fairways and native areas plus an assortment of picturesque but unforgiving water hazards, Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia highly rewards careful planning and precise execution by the golfer.

While the entire golf course is full of risk-reward shot-making opportunities, one particular stretch has garnered some significant attention from those who have played Vistancia.

Beginning with the par-4 third hole and ending on the par-4 sixth, Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia proves its mettle as a tough and varied track designed to test every aspect of your golf game.

The third is arguably the most difficult hole on the course and presents players with a rather thorny decision of whether or not driver should be the club selection off the tee. A waste area cuts the fairway in two and an ideal layup would leave about 150 yards to the green which is guarded by bunkers front and back.

Framed by native grasses on both sides of the fairway, No. 4 is a wide-open, straightforward par-4 that is protected by a waste bunker along the right side of the fairway.

Be careful on your approach shot as bunkers surround the green on three sides.

The par-5 fifth is a monster and the first signature hole at Vistancia. It plays 608 yards from the tournament tees and likely requires three shots for everyone in order to reach the green. Bunkers come in to play early and often on this beast which will require precision, patience and power in order to score well.

Finally, the par-4 sixth is the shortest on the front side, but you won’t see that off the tee, which requires a blind tee shot just to the left of two prominent cacti to the right on this dogleg right.

Outstanding scenery, a course capable of being tournament-tough and the Trilogy promise of exceptional planning, service and course conditioning make Vistancia a surefire fit for your next corporate event or meeting, group golf outing or social event.

The centerpiece of Vistancia’s group event capabilities is the 35,000 square-foot resort-style Kiva Club. It’s a gateway to a host of services, programs, classes and opportunities for fun. It adds an extra dimension to group golf events by allowing Vistancia to host larger functions like 300-player, double shotgun tournaments. The facility houses a Grand Living Room, billiards den, fitness studio, Alvea Spa and Athletic Club and the Tewa Event Room.

The professional staff at Vistancia is fully committed to relieving the burden from you and your group coordinator. The staff will design and implement every aspect of your group’s plan from designing the event to crafting the perfect post-round celebration.

Every golf tournament package at Vistancia includes the talents of a dedicated Tournament Director, full use of the practice facilities, customized scorecards, professional event scoring, tee gifts, oncourse individual competitions and more.

The staff at Vistancia takes its role as event host seriously, and will provide your group with the finest service, from welcoming each player to the facility to cleaning clubs after the round to serving up cold drafts in the inviting Verde Grill, which features and eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary dishes for lunch or dinner with panoramic views of the desert sunsets and a wine list with surprising depth. Don’t forget to try the Reuben, which is specially prepared by the chef and is quite good.

Speaking of refreshing drafts, nobody does beer specials quite like the Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia. Vistancia is currently running a fantastic beverage promotion featuring Budweiser products where from now until August 31, golfers can enjoy Budweiser products from the refreshment cart for just one dollar. This great deal is a fantastic way to beat the heat!

That’s just one of the deals that will benefit daily-fee players. Vistancia proudly shows its appreciation to the men and women in the armed forces plus law enforcement and fire personnel. With proper identification, these parties can play at half off the rack rate any day after 10 a.m.

And if you think summer is too hot for golf, think again. There are a variety of options to get you the best rates and unlimited golf with the Arctic Circle package. Depending on how much you play, you can choose from three options: Arctic Unlimited, Arctic Express and Arctic Weekday.

For daily-fee or tournament play, there isn’t a better option that combines supreme quality with affordability. Come see why Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia is the “Best in the West.”
