Super Bowl XLII, Phoenix Stadium in GlendaleSuper Bowl XLII isn’t laying claim to having the FBR Open as a “lead-in” event, that’s just tradition and good planning. But the unlimited possibilities of Arizona’s breathtaking landscape, storied history and diverse culture, not to mention 325 sunny days a year have been on display to over a billion people worldwide during the week leading up to Super Bowl XLII, February 3 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.

The de facto national holiday not only features the most-watched television show in America, but is the nation’s second largest food consumption day, not concluding until the final amazing and expensive commercial is run and the parking lots finally clear from the Valley of the Sun’s week in the spotlight.

This year, the run-up to the game begins now and continues with the heavy-hype beginning a good nine days before the game, Saturday January 26th with the opening of the NFL Experience Interactive Theme Park in Glendale and the Super Fiesta at the Dodge Theatre in Phoenix, a huge celebration of the Hispanic heritage and culture of the Grand Canyon State with live music, authentic food and family-friendly activities and kids clinics abound.

Among the highlights during the Super Bowl Week are the “Big Ticket Gala” at The Phoenician in Scottsdale Wednesday night featuring 20 NFL Hall of Fame inductees, Jay Leno and even Commissioner Roger Goodell, to the Super Canstruction on Thursday at the Chandler Fashion Center at Loop 101 and Chandler Blvd. where donated canned food will be turned into “football themed structures” by local engineering and construction firms, eventually to be donated to local food banks, to Friday night’s Super Bowl Gospel Celebration at Symphony Hall in Phoenix that’s a fusion of inspirational music and soul-stirring testimonies from top NFL players.

Then following Saturday afternoon’s Scottsdale Super Art Walk in that city’s famed Arts District, it’ll be time to gear up for Sunday’s Super Bowl XLII. For a complete rundown on activities and everything you’ll need to enjoy your visit to the Valley, visit www.azsuperbowl.com first.
